Installation guide video accessibility plug-in

Introduction

When navigating the internet on a PC or laptop, you use a browser program. To enjoy audio description more easily online, your browser can be extended with a small additional program, also known as a plug-in, add-on or extension. Once the video accessibility plug-in is installed, the audio description or subtitles will be activated automatically when you open a video where audio description or subtitles are supported. This document describes how to download and install the video accessibility plug-in.

The vast majority of computer users use the following four browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox or
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Opera

Download and Install

Google Chrome

Follow steps below to download and install the video accessibility plug-in for Google Chrome:

  • Launch Google Chrome
  • ​Select alt+d to go to the address bar and paste the following url: https://accessibility.video/download-plugin/
  • The page that now opens offers a choice of the four most commonly used browsers.
  • Select Chrome and enter.
  • On the next page, go to the Add button. to Chrome (Add to Chrome) and hit enter; a dialog box opens with two buttons: Add Extension and Cancel.
  • Tab to the Add extension button and press enter; a little later, you will be notified that Accessibility.Video has been added to Chrome.
  • The plug-in is now active in your Chrome browser.

Mozilla Firefox

Follow the steps below to download and install the audio description plugin for Mozilla Firefox:

  • Launch Firefox
  • Select alt+d to go to the address bar and paste the following url: https://accessibility.video/download-plugin/
  • The page that now opens offers a choice of the four most commonly used browsers.
  • Select Firefox and enter.
  • On the next page, go to the Add to Firefox link and hit enter; a dialog box opens with two buttons: Add Extension and Cancel. This window is not shown in some cases.
  • Give control+f6 one or more times to activate the dialog box; three buttons can be accessed in this window: More info, Cancel and Add.
  • Tab to the add button and press enter; a little later, a message appears that Accessibility.Video has been added to Firefox, but it may not appear.
  • ​Therefore, give Control+f6 again a few times, until your modification says “Load this extension in private windows.
  • Tab to Ok and enter.
  • ​The plug-in is now active in your Firefox browser.

Microsoft Edge

Follow below steps to download and install the audio description plugin for Microsoft Edge:

  • Launch Edge
  • Select alt+d to go to the address bar and paste the following url: https://accessibility.video/download-plugin/
  • The page that now opens offers a choice of the four most commonly used browsers.
  • Select Edge and enter.
  • On the next page, go to the accessibility.video link Download and hit enter; a dialog box opens with two buttons: Add Extension and Cancel.
  • Tab to the Add extension button and press enter; a little later, you will be notified that Accessibility.Video has been added to Edge.
  • ​The plug-in is now active in your Edge browser.

Opera

Follow the steps below to download and install the audio description plugin for Opera:

  • Launch Opera
  • Select alt+d to go to the address bar and paste the following url: https://accessibility.video/download-plugin/
  • The page that now opens offers a choice of the four most commonly used browsers.
  • Select Opera and enter.
  • Go to the link “Add to Opera”and select Enter; almost immediately the message appears “Add-on is added to Opera”.
  • The plug-in is now active in your Opera browser.
